How to pump your own gas

Someone close to me just texted me and told me that the gas station in town that they go to is up and

running again. They were excited because the station pumps the gas for them. I understand that they

don't want to, but I feel that it's crucial to know how to pump your own gas. Personally, when you are

able to pump your own gas, you get a feeling of independence, and don't have to wait for the

serviceman to finish filling another car's tank. So in order to help this person and those who like them, I

will give you the know how on pumping your own gas. First thing to do and most obvious is to park

the car, but make sure that the side with the gas cap is on the gas hoses side. The next thing you do is

turn the car off and go inside the gas station. Once in, you ask the cashier to put a certain amount of

money in the tank, and tell them what kind of gas you want. For example, if you have $10.00 and want

to buy regular gas you say, " Ten regular please." Once you pay for the gas, you go back outside to

your car and open the gas cap. Next, you remove the pump from its hold and place it into the hole.

From that point, you squeeze the trigger on the pump to release the gas into the tank. As you squeeze

the trigger, you watch the display on the machine to see how much gas is going in, and if you have

reached your price limit yet. Once you do, you release the trigger and pull the hose out and place it

back into its holster. Finally, you close the cap, and drive off. It would be good to note that their are

times I would not want to go in myself to pump though. If the weather was dismal, such as a blizzard,

most likely I would not pump my gas. I hope this has been helpful, and next time the empty gas tank

light turns on, you'll be able to apply the steps I've taught.
